Important Information

  1. The University reserves the right to disapprove credit transfer applications for courses deemed not equivalent to those offered by the University (e.g. with less than 70% similarity). Only courses with a passing grade will be considered. Applications with incomplete information or missing supporting documents will not be processed.
  2. Credits earned from prior learning must remain valid at the time of application for course exemption or credit transfer. The validity period of credits eligible for credit transfer is eight years from the year of attainment.
  3. Under normal circumstances, the maximum limit for credit transfer and course exemption is 50% of the total credits required by the programme. For credit transfer associated with exit awards granted by the University, the ceiling is 65% of the total credit requirement for the exit award. This limit does not include credit transfer associated with approved student exchange programmes.
  4. Applications for credit transfer or course exemption will not be accepted if students have already registered for and completed the course at the University, regardless of the result.
  5. The Programme Leader or his/her delegate will assess the application and make a recommendation to the respective School Dean for approval. Students may be required to undertake an assessment for the consideration of credit transfer.
  6. If credit transfer is approved, the student will be regarded as having completed the relevant course(s) and granted the equivalent credits. If course exemption is approved, the student must take other course(s) to fulfil the total credit requirement for graduation. Records of credit transfer and course exemption are excluded from GPA calculation.
