"Tung Wah University of Hong Kong (TWUHK) is committed to assuring the quality of its programmes and fostering quality culture throughout its operations. All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), some of which are also accredited and recognised by professional bodies, government bureaux or departments.

The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) is set up for overseeing the University’s accreditation planning and review, developing and refining the University’s internal academic quality assurance system, and providing leadership, advice and support to academic units for issues related to programme development and quality assurance. Welcome to the Quality Assurance Office (QAO).

Tung Wah University of Hong Kong (TWUHK) is firmly committed to safeguarding and enhancing the standards of its academic programmes. The priority of QAO is to ensure that our quality assurance (QA) system effectively supports the University’s development as a vibrant degree-awarding institution.

QAO oversees the formulation, implementation and regular review of internal QA policies, procedures and systems at both institutional and programme levels. Through scheduled reviews, stakeholder engagement, data-informed and benchmarking analysis, the University works continuously to enhance learning and teaching, and to keep programmes responsive to the evolving needs of students, employers, industries and the wider community.

Since 2011, the institution has developed a strong track record in academic and professional accreditations, including the attainment of Programme Area Accreditation (PAA) status in three programme areas under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework. This reflects effective academic governance and a sustained commitment to excellence in programme planning, delivery and review.

A shared QA culture is central to TWUHK. Staff and committees across the University adopt a self-reflective and evidence-based approach, using internal reviews, external assessments and feedback mechanisms to inform ongoing enhancement. Academic policies and mechanisms are reviewed regularly to ensure continued relevance and alignment with the University’s mission and strategic objectives.

The support and participation of stakeholders are crucial to this work. QAO looks forward to continued collaboration with students, staff, alumni, professional bodies and community partners in further strengthening the quality and impact of TWUHK’s education in the years ahead.

Our Services

The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) serves as TWUHK’s dedicated unit for internal quality assurance, overseeing the formulation, implementation, and review of QA policies, procedures, and systems at both institutional and programme levels.

QAO collaborates closely with academic and administration units, as well as external partners, to maintain academic and professional standards and drive continuous enhancement across all programmes. It focuses on assuring learning programme quality, refining the University’s internal QA framework, and fostering a culture of quality throughout TWUHK.

The Quality Assurance Manual (QAM) details the principles, policies, mechanisms, processes, and procedures that underpin TWUHK’s QA and academic standards. Developed and maintained by QAO, the QAM promotes transparency, uniformity in operations, and active staff and student participation in quality assurance and improvement. The QAM is accessible to all staff via the TWUHK Staff Portal, while a public version is available on the University website. Stakeholder engagement remains essential to its effective implementation.
