Professor Lo Chung-mau, BBS, JP, the Secretary for Health, led a delegation from the Health Bureau to visit Tung Wah College (TWC) on 31 July 2024 to learn about the latest progress of TWC in enhancing its healthcare teaching facilities. The delegates were well received by Professor Sally Chan, President of TWC, Professor David Man, Vice-President (Academic) and Mr. Patrick Ho, Acting Vice-President (Administration & Development), and members of College Management Team.

The delegation toured the healthcare teaching facilities, including Physiotherapy Laboratory, Virtual Reality Centre, Medical Laboratory Science Laboratory, Nursing Laboratory and the soon-to-be-opened Medical Imaging Laboratory. The delegation was introduced to the College’s latest development and achievements by Professor Sally Chan. Both parties also exchanged insights on the training of healthcare professionals and practicum arrangements.

Professor Lo is pleased to know that TWC has gradually increased the healthcare training quotas in recent years, nurturing many allied health professionals and nurses for Hong Kong. He hoped that students of the relevant disciplines will actively engage in the public healthcare service after graduation to help alleviate the shortage of manpower in the public healthcare system and provide primary healthcare services to Hong Kong citizens.

Professor Lo also said that he was very pleased to see the College launch the first self-financing Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Medical Imaging in Hong Kong to meet the heavy demand for diagnostic radiographers.
