Welcome to the Centre for Academic and Professional Language Enhancement (CAPLE). We are committed to fostering excellence in language education and supporting students' journey towards becoming effective global communicators.

Our Centre offers comprehensive language courses in English, Chinese, Putonghua, and foreign languages including Japanese, Korean, Spanish and French. We provide Language Support Consultations, Language Education Seminars, and our Language Buddy Programme. All activities enhance participants' language skills whilst developing intercultural awareness and professional communication competencies.

Our dedicated team of experienced language teachers offers flexible consultations, interactive workshops, and cultural exchange opportunities to accommodate different learning needs. Enhancing Chinese Writing Skills: Analysis of Commonly Confused Homophones
CAPLE organized a seminar titled "Enhancing Chinese Writing Skills: Analysis of Commonly Confused Homophones" on 29th March 2023, featuring Professor Tang Chiu Kay, former Vice President (Academic) of Hong Kong Chu Hai College. Drawing from his unique expertise in both medical practice and Chinese philology, Professor Tang analyzed challenging Cantonese homophones that are often overlooked in Mandarin-focused references. The seminar provided practical techniques for improving writing accuracy and avoiding common errors, generating enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members across different disciplines.
