Organised by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and sponsored by the Commission on Youth, the “Fujian Medical Service Exchange and Voluntary Teaching Service Programme” was successfully held from 5 to 10 January 2016. A group of 20 students of Bachelor of Health Science (Hons), Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons), and Associate of Health Studies, set off for the Fujian Province and paid visits to schools and hospitals in Zhangzhou and Xiamen.
In this study tour, students had not only experienced the traditional Chinese culture and agricultural lifestyle, but also gained valuable and inspirational insights through interaction with the medical students of Xiamen Medical College (廈門醫學高等專科學校) and with the Vice-Principal and medical professionals of No. 2 Hospital Xiamen (廈門市第二醫院). One of the highlights of the study tour was voluntary teaching at Nanjing Shuyang Central Elementary School (南靖縣書洋中心小學) whereby students shared their knowledge about healthcare and nutrition with the primary students.
