PR-20120618a(18 June 2012 - Hong Kong) The 5,000 years history of Chinese culture is extensive and profound. It is a great honor for Tung Wah College (TWC) to receive two paintings donated by Mr. Lai Ming, a master of the Lingnan School of painting, as the decoration of the Co-op Café Pacific Coffee located at Kings Park Campus. The two Chinese paintings show the essence of Chinese culture, a crossover that blend in with the Western layout of a coffee shop, forming a brand new "Art Café" in Hong Kong.

PR-20120618bProf. Lai also donated five paintings to TWC for charitable auctions. All the paintings were immediately recognized by four donors and raised HKD$ 310,000 in total. The donations will be used to support the future development of TWC.

Today, TWC held a simple and memorable cheque presentation ceremony at the "Art Café". Prof. Thomas Wong, President of TWC, Ms. Eugenie Kan, Marketing Senior Regional Director of Pacific Coffee Company and Prof. Lai Ming were invited as the honorable guests. Prof. Wong and Prof. Lai presented the paintings to all donors and received cheque from them.

PR-20120618cProf. Wong, President of TWC, also announced that Prof. Lai accepted an invitation from TWC to be a Visiting Professor, teaching a liberal studies course on Chinese art last semester. The programme was mostly welcomed by TWC students, with both classes of the course are full shortly after opening for registration. Prof. Wong thanked Prof Lai for his continuous support to TWC and hope students can make good use of the “Art Café”. Prof. Lai wished to make his contribution to enlighten young people, so as to open the door for the students to the profound Chinese culture.

PR-20120618dMs. Eugenie Kan was thankful to Prof. Lai for his paintings to decorate the coffee shop. She believes the "Art Café" reflects the harmony of Chinese and Western culture in combination, also elevate the culture of the coffee shop.

TWC invited Prof. Lai Ming and the "Genius Artist" Kenny Lau Kin-Gi, to design the body of the coffee machines. The reserve price of the two charitable special edition coffee machines is HKD$5,888.
