Community Service Programme

To enhance students' awareness of community needs and strengthen their sense of civic responsibility, all full-time students (and those as required by their programme) are required to complete a total of 30 hours of community service during their course of study to fulfill the graduation requirement.

In order to encourage students to maintain a good balance by actively participating in genuine community service, started from the cohort of 2024/2025, the total of 30 hours of community service to fulfil the graduation requirement remains unchanged, while adjusting the distribution of community service hours as below:

  • Recognised College-Based Service Hours note1: 10 hours maximum
  • Community-Based Service Hours note2: No limit

**This requirement only applies to students enrolling from the academic year 2024/2025 onwards, including students undertaking programme transition. Students from AY2023/2024 and earlier are not affected by this new policy.**

Note 1: College-based service is mainly related to the operations of the College, such as serving at a campus event or contributing to a college project. The immediate serving targets are TWC students and staff.

Note 2: Community-based service is service activities that are conducted in the broader community outside of the college campus.

Procedures for Applying and Submitting Community Service

A. Individual Self-sourced Community Service Programme

  1. Students are required to fill in the Community Service Programme Approval Form (Form/SAO 32/202407) and submit it to the Student Affairs Office (SAO) for approval.

  2. The SAO will review the request and notify the student within 1 week of their decision.Students are required to fill in the Community Service Programme Approval Form (Form/SAO 32/202407) and submit it to the Student Affairs Office (SAO) for approval.

  3. Upon completion of the community service, students are required to submit the Community Service Programme Record Form (Form/SAO 33/202407) (Form/SAO 33/202407) to the SAO.

  4. The SAO will update the student's community service hour record in the Student Affairs Office Programme Registration System (RegCSP) within 2 weeks of receiving the completed form.

     

B. Community Service Programme coordinated by SAO

  1. The SAO collaborates with various community organisations to provide service opportunities suitable for TWC students. Once an appropriate programme is identified, the SAO will set up a registration link in the Student Affairs Office Programme Registration System (RegCSP).
  2. The SAO will then deliver the programme details to all students via email.
  3. Students interested in participating must register through the RegCSP system by the specified deadline.
  4. After the registration deadline, the SAO will send confirmation to all registered students and provide the list of participants with their contact details to the partner organisations.
  5. Upon completion of the community service, the partner organisations will send the attendance list and service hour records to the SAO.
  6. The SAO will update the students' community service hour records in the RegCSP within 2 weeks of receiving the information from the partner organisations.

 

C. Community Service Programme offered by Social Career

  1. Students may find community service programmes through the Social Career platform by downloading the Social Career app or visiting the website at https://socialcareer.org to explore the available opportunities.
  2. To participate, students must register for an account using their TWC EMAIL ADDRESS.
  3. Students can then enroll in the community service programme(s) that they are interested in and attend as scheduled.
  4. After the student completes the community service, Social Career will send the attendance list to the Student Affairs Office (SAO) within 1 month.
  5. SAO will then update the student's community service hour record in the Student Affairs Office Programme Registration System (RegCSP) within 2 weeks of receiving the information from Social Career.

 

Check your Community Service Record

Students are advised to regularly check their community service record, as it will be updated monthly by the Student Affairs Office (SAO).

To check your community service record, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Student Affairs Office Programme Registration System (RegCSP) website at https://www.twc.edu.hk/RegCSP/
  2. Log in using your student login and password.
  3. Review your up-to-date community service hour record in the system.
