Dr. Chau joined Tung Wah University of Hong Kong in December 2021 and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Medical Laboratory Science programme. He obtained his doctorate in Biochemistry from the LKS Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong. Funded by the Croucher Foundation, he pursued post-doctoral research on the biochemical roles of neuro-glycoconjugates at his alma mater. He completed his postdoctoral research on neuronal recovery from spinal cord injury in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at St. Louis University, USA.
From 2005 to 2010, Dr. Chau served as a Teaching Consultant in the Department of Biochemistry at The University of Hong Kong, teaching biochemistry and molecular biology to undergraduate students in medical, dental, nursing, science, and biomedical engineering programmes. He later joined HKU SPACE as the Programme Director for designing and implementing programmes in medical biochemistry, pathobiology, applied toxicology, molecular diagnostics, and analytical laboratory techniques for Biomedical and Biological Sciences. He also held the position of Programme Leader, overseeing all teaching-related activities for various sub-degree programmes in Medical Laboratory Sciences and the BSc (Hons) in Biological Science programme offered by Edinburgh Napier University at HKU SPACE.
