Dr. Ben Yip is the Assistant Professor in Occupational Therapy at Tung Wah University of Hong Kong. He is an experienced occupational therapist specializing in working with the elderly and students with special educational needs. He attained his PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2011, following his BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy from the same institution in 2001.
Dr. Yip has extensive experience in applying technology to rehabilitation, with his doctoral research investigating the treatment effectiveness of combining artificial intelligence and virtual reality for people with brain injuries. He has transitioned into an entrepreneur and medical device manufacturer, familiar with R&D, production processes, marketing, and regulatory requirements for medical devices, including leading the development and production of upper and lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robots.
