Biography

Professor Chan is the Dean and Professor of the School of Arts and Humanities at Tung Wah University of Hong Kong, where he also serves as co-Director of the Translational Research Centre for Digital Mental Health (TRC-DMH). Since 2014, he has secured 23 external grants totalling HKD 38.4 million, leading 16 projects and contributing to 7 others. Previously, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Counselling and Psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, holding key roles such as Director of University Research and founding Director of the Positive Psychology Laboratory. 

Professor Chan advocates rigorous research and evidence-based practice in positive psychology, engaging in school and community projects to promote positive education and strength-based approaches for mental health and well-being across all ages. His work integrates cyberpsychology and positive technologies, developing digital interventions to mitigate online risks while fostering strengths, resilience, and human flourishing through collaborations with renowned scholars in positive psychology, developmental psychology, and cyberpsychology, with publications in high-impact journals.
