Dr Lap Tuen, Michael Wong is currently the Head of the Centre for Academic and Professional Language Enhancement at the Tung Wah University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Having begun his teaching career in 2001, Dr Wong has taught a wide range of language-related courses at UGC-funded universities and self-financing institutions from sub-degree to postgraduate level.
Dr Wong has published papers in international refereed journals and articles in local and overseas newspapers focusing on second language teaching and post-secondary education in Hong Kong. He has co-edited two scholarly books: ‘Teaching and Learning English for Academic Purposes: Current Research and Practices’ (with Dr Heidi Wai-lam Wong; 2018) and ‘English Language Education in a Global World: Practices, Issues and Challenges’ (with Dr Aditi Jhaveri; 2015). Both books have received excellent reviews from world-renowned scholars in the fields of English language education and applied linguistics. Dr Wong has also served as a Specialist (Education and Languages) for the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
