Biography

Maria Yu is passionate about teaching and brings a rich background in literature, translation, language education, and special education to her work. She completed her studies in Comparative Literature at the University of Iowa, earned a Master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and holds both a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Hong Kong and a Special Education Diploma from HKU SPACE. 

Throughout her career, Maria has designed and taught student-centred courses at universities and in the community, helping learners communicate, think critically, and build confidence. She genuinely enjoys supporting students with diverse backgrounds, always aiming to make her teaching creative and empathetic.   

Beyond the classroom, Maria shares her love of stories as a storyteller for Hong Kong Public Libraries, where she encourages families to discover the joy of reading together and strengthens bonds in the community.
