Biography

Professor Simon Lam is currently a Professor in the School of Nursing at Tung Wah University of Hong Kong. He has over 20 years of teaching experience as an academic in both UGC** -funded** and self-financing tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. He also serves as Editor of Infection Prevention in Practice, Associate Editor of BMC Infectious Diseases, Frontiers in Public Health, and Frontiers in Medicine.

Professor Lam has published more than 159 refereed articles and book chapters in the fields of infection control, instrument testing, and public health. He developed the Compliance with Standard Precautions Scale (CSPS), which measures nursing staff’s compliance with infection control practices in clinical settings. The scale has been translated into more than ten languages and adopted in over 30 countries and regions worldwide. He has secured 40 external and internal research projects with total funding exceeding HKD 8 million. From 2020 to 2025, his research was featured in nearly 400 media reports.

Since 2020, Professor Lam has been listed for five consecutive years among the world’s top 2% scientists (Stanford University). He received the Sigma Asia Region Emerging Nurse Researcher/Scholar Award in 2021 and was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in 2022.
In professional service for the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, Professor Lam serves as a co-opted member of the Enrolled Nurse (General) Examination Sub-committee.
