Dr. Julia Sze-Wing Wong is an experienced nursing academic with over 29 years of experience in clinical practice, research, and nursing education. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies from the University of Paisley in 1998 and a Master of Nursing in Advanced Practice from the University of Hong Kong in 2004. In 2018, she completed her Doctor of Education in Higher Education from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, and most recently, she earned a Master of Business Administration in 2024.
Dr. Wong has extensive experience in orthopaedic and rehabilitation nursing, having worked for more than a decade in public hospitals under the Hospital Authority. Her leadership extended to developing clinical protocols and contributing to multidisciplinary research and quality-improvement projects.
Transitioning into academia in 2009, Dr. Wong has held various academic positions and currently serves as an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, Tung Wah University of Hong Kong, where she leads the Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing programme. She plays a pivotal role in curriculum development, postgraduate research supervision, mentorship of academic staff, and the advancement of innovative nursing education strategies, such as challenge-based learning and the use of gamified and virtual-reality teaching tools.
An active researcher, Dr. Wong has secured multiple competitive research grants as both Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator, including projects funded by the University Grants Committee and the Education Bureau of Hong Kong. Her research focuses on resilience, interprofessional collaboration, technology-enhanced learning, and the integration of artificial intelligence in nursing education.
Dr. Wong was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award in 2018 and has received numerous research accolades, including the Outstanding Paper Award (1999) and Best Poster Award (2018) at local and international conferences.
She became a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing (Education and Research – Education) in 2018 and was appointed as Honorary Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Macau University of Science and Technology in 2024.
