Funds and Other Support Schemes

Students are encouraged to organise and participate in various student activities and apply for fundings to support your passion and involvement in activities.

TWUHK Student Funds

To encourage students to organise and/or participate in student-related activities and recognise students who have attained significant achievements in external competitions, Student Activities Fund has been set up to support for the related activities.

Student Development Fund

To encourage students to organise and participate in more academic activities to widen their exposure, enrich their knowledge and contribute to their professional development goals, Student Development Fund has been set up to support student activities with academic elements.

Student Relief Fund 

TWUHK Student Relief Fund (the Fund) aims to provide a timely relief to full-time local students facing unforeseen financial emergencies that may disrupt their studies.

Student Innovation Project Fund

The Student Innovation Project Fund aims to allow students to bring their innovative ideas to fruition providing benefits to the University or the community, and nurture students with unique talents by organizing and conducting innovative project which should be non-profit making in nature.

Government Subsidy Schemes for Exchange Activities

The Education Bureau (EDB) of the Government of the HKSAR provides the following subsidy schemes to support our local and non-local students enrolled in full-time sub-degree or undergraduate programmes, offering means-tested and non-means-tested subsidies to participate in exchange activities outside Hong Kong.

Scheme on Subsidy on Exchange for Post-secondary Students (SSE)

Scheme for Means-tested Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for Post-secondary Students (Means-tested SSEBR)

Eligible Students

  1. Local students in receipt of means-tested student financial assistance from the Student Finance Office (SFO) of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency or whose families are in receipt of the Comprehensive Social Security Assurance (CSSA).

 

  1. Going to participate in an eligible exchange activity as detailed below and selected through a merit-based mechanism administered by TWU
  1. Local students in receipt of means-tested student financial assistance from the Student Finance Office (SFO) of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency or whose families are in receipt of the Comprehensive Social Security Assurance (CSSA).

 

  1. Going to participate in an eligible exchange activity as detailed below and selected through a merit-based mechanism administered by TWU

Eligible Exchange Activities

  1. Outbound activity comprising substantive teaching and learning elements, including learning activities, internship programmes, service programmes, and national/regional/international events and competitions, organised and/or endorsed by TWU.

The maximum amount of subsidy under SSE is calculated by adding up (1A) and (1B), discounted by the student’s level of means-tested financial assistance by the Government. #

# In individual cases where the student’s level of means-tested financial assistance by the Government is lower than 50%, the financial assistance level to be adopted in the calculation of the maximum amount of subsidy for the student under SSE will be adjusted to 50%.

^ Travelling time back and forth between Hong Kong and the programme destination is not counted.

Destinations of every exchange activity subsidized under SSE, means-tested SSEBR and non-means-tested SSEBR should be different in terms of country/economy.

The maximum amount of subsidy under Means-tested SSEBR is calculated by adding up (2A) and (2B), discounted by the student’s level of means-tested financial assistance by the Government. #

# In individual cases where the student’s level of means-tested financial assistance by the Government is lower than 50%, the financial assistance level to be adopted in the calculation of the maximum amount of subsidy for the student under Means-tested SSEBR will be adjusted to 50%.
