Student Wellness and Inclusion

Campus Wellness Tutor

Objectives

The CWTs programme is to cultivate a caring culture and promote wellness on campus by empowering CWTs to passionately and unreservedly support their peers in the area of mental wellness. This program aims to equip CWTs with essential mental wellness knowledge, peer counseling techniques, and skills for designing effective wellness programs. By engaging in both university-led and student-led wellness initiatives, CWTs gain practical experience and enhance their ability to provide meaningful mental wellness support to their peers.

Training

The program includes intensive training sessions that cover the Standard Mental Health First Aid Course, peer counseling skills, stress management techniques, as well as event planning and leadership skills. As part of this comprehensive learning experience, CWTs will also visit NGOs that promote mental wellness within the community, providing them with valuable insights into implementing effective wellness projects. These combined experiences aim to equip CWTs with a robust understanding of mental health support and community engagement, preparing them to lead impactful wellness initiatives.

Service Requirements

The Campus Wellness Tutors (CWT) program emphasizes student-led initiatives, such as the "Lighting Up Lives" project, by encouraging participants to design, submit proposals, and implement innovative wellness projects with the support of a funding subsidy. This initiative empowers students to take the lead in promoting mental well-being, fostering creativity and leadership as they develop impactful solutions tailored to their peers' needs.  In addition to student-led projects, CWTs are actively involved in organizing university-led programs, such as the Wellness Festival, which further enriches their experience and enhances their ability to contribute to the campus's overall mental health culture. By integrating both student-driven and institutional activities, the CWT program ensures a comprehensive approach to mental wellness, cultivating a supportive and thriving community.
