(7 July 2016 – Hong Kong) Many youngsters aspire to pursue careers in the business sector. Tung Wah College (TWC) is committed to providing quality academic programmes that will help equip such young aspirants with a good understanding of business and management in different industries. The College’s well-established School of Business offers various programmes to cater to different demands, including Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons), Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Entrepreneurship and Management, and is now launching the Higher Diploma in Business Studies programme in the 2016/2017 academic year. This two-year full-time programme aims to provide students with a wide spectrum of fundamental business concepts, knowledge and generic skills to enhance their competitiveness in the workplace or pave the way for their further studies.
The programme is designed to give students exposure to a diverse range of disciplines associated with business including management, economics, financial accounting, information technology and multimedia applications, and marketing so as to broaden students’ scope of knowledge. Teachers will guide students in exploring and analyzing various management or operational problems possibly encountered by corporations, and through the process, to develop and strengthen students’ problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Programme Leader of Higher Diploma in Business Studies Dr. Tilo Li said “To complement specialized knowledge, we also aid students in developing generic skills, including skills in organizing information, bilingual communication skills and analytical and problem-solving skills, to facilitate their broader growth and comprehensive development.” He added, “We aspire to nurture talents who can flexibly apply the acquired professional knowledge and transferable skills in real-world settings. At the same time, we hope to cultivate skilled business practitioners with a sense of social responsibility.”
As the first self-financing educational institution that offers entrepreneurship training at the tertiary level in Hong Kong, one of the unique features of the programme is its incorporation of topics on entrepreneurship. Graduates who intend to start their own business are in an advantageous position as they are well-trained and pre-exposed to entrepreneurship through the programme. Students who aim to enter the job market upon graduation will also gain a competitive edge, as the courses will equip them with knowledge of intrapreneurship as well as foster their creativity. Another value-added feature of the programme is that it provides students with exposure to the operation of non-profit organizations (NPOs), with Tung Wah Group of Hospitals being one of them, so graduates who wish to seek employment from non-profit organizations (NPOs) can compare more favourably with other job competitors. Another special feature is the extra resources it offers in helping students upgrade their English competency and communication skills through the College’s English enhancement programme.
Graduates can develop their future careers in the private sector, governmental or non-profit organizations. They can apply for various para-professional positions including accounting trainees, marketing assistant, and trainees or administrators in finance or management. As for graduates who intend to pursue further education, they can articulate to various BBA programmes offered by TWC or other business-related programmes in areas such as accounting, banking and finance, marketing as well as entrepreneurship and management etc. of other local or overseas institutions.
Those who are interested in our programmes, please apply online via the TWC website at www.twc.edu.hk. Shortlisted applicants will be notified for interviews. Applicants can also visit our website for the latest programme information.
