Tung Wah College Forms Collaboration with St. George’s UniversityTung Wah College Forms Collaboration with St. George’s UniversityTung Wah College Forms Collaboration with St. George’s University(31 May 2013 - Hong Kong) Tung Wah College (TWC) has been striving to develop close connections with leading universities overseas in order to provide more learning opportunities to students through collaborations. TWC announced its collaboration with St. George’s University, a renowned educational institution, for teaching, articulation of graduate education, exchange programme and research.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in TWC between representatives of the two institutions. Professor Thomas Wong, President of Tung Wah College, said, "we are pleased to team up with St. George’s University to establish a strategic alliance to promote and enhance teaching, learning and research in medical and healthcare disciplines. The cooperative ties established between the two schools signify our common goal to bring development to new heights.”

Dr. Calum N.L. Macpherson, Vice Provost of St. George’s University, added, “In this spirit, we have agreed to collaborate to develop our joint capability to compete at highest levels. Together we hope to do even better than we already do individually.”

Under the collaboration arrangement, graduates from the Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons) programme and the Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) programme of Tung Wah College may enter into Graduate programmes of St. George’s University; The Institutions will facilitate semester-based exchange of students to broaden their learning experience particularly in areas related to local cultures, beliefs and values. The Institutions will also encourage the exchange of research results, publications and other information between their academic staff.

Founded as an independent School of Medicine in 1976, St. George’s University has evolved into a top-ranked university in the world, drawing students and faculties from 140 countries. The University offers advanced, premedical, and preveterinary degrees and graduate programmes in its Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and has over 12,000 graduates including physicians, veterinarians, and scientists across the world.
