(6 December 2011 – Hong Kong) Christmas is coming soon! It is a great pleasure that Tung Wah College (TWC) has invited the six-year-old artistic genius Kenny Lau Kin Gi to design an electronic Christmas card for TWC students, teachers and the Co-op partners.
The design of the Christmas card shows Kenny’s creative talent. He chose to use his favorite material, acrylic painting, to draw the card. Kenny painted a Christmas deer as a main theme and the central symbolic element of Christmas. In addition, he drew the deer horns by using different colors to show the festive joy. Apart from painting, Kenny also wrote "Merry X'mas" onto the card by himself, making the card more unique than others. In order to express the special thanks to Kenny, TWC decided to sponsor the "Promotion of Young Artists Foundation" which is established by Kenny's father, Mr. Henry Lau Hoo Cheong.
Established in 2010, the "Promotion of Young Artists Foundation" aimed at promoting the development of arts and culture among teenagers in Hong Kong. As the founder of the foundation and the art school "Simply Art", Mr. Lau hopes to invite other renowned artists aboard to visit Hong Kong and teach the techniques of painting to the Youth of Hong Kong.
Aged only six years old, many artworks of Kenny has gotten internationally recognition. One of the Kenny’s paintings, "Tiger", even won the highest honor from the 38th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice. On top of that, Kenny was also named as one of the 10 best individuals in the 30th the Small Montmartre of Bitola in Europe, which was also well-known as the "Painting Olympics".
