CAPLE at Tung Wah University of Hong Kong provides regular, interactive, and customised Language Support Consultations (in Chinese, English, and Putonghua) for students from all disciplines. During these consultations, students may discuss specific language difficulties and practise relevant skills with language tutors. At the beginning of each semester, information about the consultations is disseminated to all academic staff and students via email and posters. All students are encouraged to make full use of this service. Students with weaker academic performance who are recommended by teaching staff receive additional attention and tailored support. For example, when students encounter difficulties in understanding particular language features, tutors may provide supplementary explanations in Cantonese or Putonghua. Students also have access to a wide range of language reference materials, books, and exercises available at CAPLE and in the University Library, and are strongly encouraged to use these resources outside class or after consultations.

To further enhance students’ language proficiency, CAPLE regularly organises a comprehensive series of Language Education Seminars conducted in Cantonese, English, and/or Putonghua. Distinguished industry leaders, experienced academics, and subject‑matter experts are invited to share effective language learning strategies and insights. These seminars address industry‑specific language requirements and professional communication skills across various sectors. Complementing CAPLE’s regular language support services, the seminars provide valuable opportunities for students to learn from practitioners and scholars who have achieved excellence in their respective fields. By integrating academic and professional perspectives, these seminars ensure that students receive comprehensive language training aligned with current industry demands.

The Language Buddy Programme aims to enhance students’ biliterate and multilingual capabilities, with particular emphasis on language application and exploration beyond the classroom. While maintaining the University’s strong commitment to developing students’ English proficiency, CAPLE is equally dedicated to fostering multilingual exchange among students. All local, Mainland, and international students at Tung Wah University of Hong Kong are warmly invited to participate as language buddies. Beyond language development, the programme also serves as a platform for cultural engagement. By encouraging the sharing of diverse cultural experiences, it promotes interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and enriches students’ academic experiences.

CAPLE offers comprehensive IELTS Preparation Workshops covering all four language components: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. These specialised workshops are designed to enhance students’ test‑taking strategies and overall English proficiency. Through systematic training and practical exercises, participants receive focused instruction on examination techniques while developing essential language skills. The workshops incorporate authentic test materials and regular mock examinations conducted under examination conditions, enabling students to familiarise themselves with the IELTS format and build confidence. Experienced instructors provide detailed feedback and personalised guidance to help students achieve their target band scores.

To broaden students’ global perspectives and linguistic competencies, CAPLE offers interactive workshops in Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and French. These workshops adopt an immersive approach that integrates language learning with cultural exploration. Students acquire fundamental communication skills while gaining insights into the cultures, customs, and contemporary societies associated with each language. Through engaging activities, diverse resources, and interactive sessions, participants develop practical language skills and enhance their cross‑cultural awareness. These workshops provide an excellent platform for students to expand their international outlook and cultivate multilingual abilities essential in today’s globalised world.
