Dr Jasmine Tsang’s passion for healthcare started from her Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Biomedical Materials Science and Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London, where she had a research study on advanced damage-sensing techniques in composite materials. Her passion deepened during her MSc in Dental Materials at the University of Hong Kong, where she investigated some dental resin composites in a dental hospital. These projects established a strong foundation for her focus on bridging technology with healthcare needs.
Her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London sharpened her expertise in computational modelling, data analysis, numerical methods and simulations. She applied these skills as a Reliability Engineer in industry, applying data science skills and predictive analytics to improve performance of data centre products. These skills are very helpful in predicting healthcare outcomes and optimising medical devices.
Dr Tsang then expanded her technology management credentials at the Hong Kong Productivity Council, where she was a postdoc researcher, she worked on public projects and conducted applied research focused on AI-driven vision systems and related areas. She then worked as an Associate Project Manager at PolyU Technology and Consultancy Co. Ltd, this further demonstrated her ability in technology management and solidified her ability to drive technological solutions in practical, real-world applications.
She then started to be a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She taught undergraduate students in Mechanical and Automation Engineering, as well as Energy and Environmental Engineering. She also taught a Postgraduate Elective Course and a University Core Required General Education Course. In addition, her roles from the Publicity and Admissions Committees provided valuable insight into student engagement and polished her pedagogical approach, enhancing her teaching effectiveness.
Subsequently, she taught at HKU SPACE in Computer Programming, Engineering and Information Science, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Data structures and Algorithms. She also obtained professional certificates in related fields, showing her dedication to continuous professional development.
Dr Tsang’s unique combination of healthcare knowledge, AI and IT expertise, and technology management experience positions her well for advancing in the field of health information and service management.
