With accreditation from the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, graduates are eligible to register as Registered Nurses (RNs) upon completion of the programme. The curriculum aligns with professional standards and offers extensive clinical placements as well as diverse learning opportunities. Students gain broad exposure to primary, secondary, and tertiary care, emerging health technologies, and global health perspectives, thereby supporting a wide range of career and further study pathways.
Programme Description

The programme is accrdited by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, graduates could register as Registered Nurse (RN) after they graduated. We offer structured preparation for modern nursing practice, combining evidence‑based teaching, supervised clinical exposure and person‑centred training to equip students for professional registration and service in diverse healthcare settings.

Programme Objectives
  1. To develop students’ competence in health promotion, maintenance and restoration, and prevention of illness through the delivery of primary, secondary and tertiary health care in various hospital and community settings; 
  2. To equip students with problem solving and clinical reasoning skills; 
  3. To equip students with effective communication skills for the delivery of individualized care as well as for facilitation of teamwork; 
  4. To provide students with experiential learning opportunities to facilitate integration of theory and practice in their chosen profession; and 
  5. To nurture students’ all-roundness by expanding students’ understanding and appreciation of other cultures and environment.

Year 1 Entry

For Year 1 entry, applicants should meet one of the following requirements:

  • HKDSE candidates from 2024/25 onwards, have obtained Level 3 for Chinese Language and English Language and Level 2 for Mathematics and have “Attained (A)” for Citizenship and Social Development plus one Elective under Category A at Level 2 (“332A+2”) in HKDSE; OR
  • HKDSE candidates before 2024/2025, have obtained Level 3 for Chinese Language and English Language and Level 2 for Mathematics and Liberal Studies plus one Elective under Category A at Level 2 (“3322+2”) in HKDSE; OR
  • Have passes in AS Use of English and AS Chinese Language & Culture plus one AL subject/two AS subjects in HKALE and have passed five subjects in HKCEE including Chinese Language, English Language and one science subject (Biology/Human Biology/Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics) with at least Grade C in any one of them; OR
  • Have passes in AS Use of English and AS Chinese Language & Culture plus one AL subject/two AS subjects in HKALE and have obtained Level 2 for Chinese Language and English Language, passed one science subject (Biology/Human Biology/Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics) and two other subjects in HKCEE, with at least Grade C in any one of the them (or Level 3 for Chinese Language/English Language); OR
  • Equivalent qualifications.
Programme Specific Requirements
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have obtained Level 4 or above in English Language in HKDSE.
  • Only applicants who have taken elective subjects under Category A will be considered.
  • Applicants should be fluent in written English and Chinese, and in oral English and Cantonese.

For senior year entry, applicants should meet one of the following requirements:

  • Have completed an Associate Degree programme (AD) or Higher Diploma programme (HD) of the relevant subject / discipline; OR
  • Have obtained equivalent qualifications

Notes
  • Tung Wah College will adjust the tuition fee of its programmes based on the Composite Consumer Price Index to be announced by the Government annually. 
  • Tuition fees are normally charged by two instalments per annum and are payable before the commencement of each semester. New students are required to settle the balance of the tuition fee for the first semester (i.e. after deducting deposit) upon programme registration in August. 
  • Students are required to pay additional fees for all retake/additional courses which would be charged at the rate of the normal cohort and be calculated by the number of credits to be taken. Please refer the details in the College’s Fees Regulation at https://www.twc.edu.hk/en/Administration_Units/fo/our_service/student-area. 
  • The tuition fee for the programme under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) is the net fee paid by a student after deduction of subsidy from the Government. In 2026/27 academic year, the annual subsidy under the SSSDP is $81,450 for laboratory-based undergraduate programmes. The annual subsidy amount may vary in each academic year subject to the decision by the Education Bureau. 
  • All fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable. 
  • Following the Government's announcement on 31 July 2025 regarding the revised eligibility criteria for government-subsidised post-secondary student places and subsidies, the new arrangements will take effect from the 2027/28 academic year (with the application cycle commencing in October 2026). Students will be required to pay the non-subsidised tuition fees if they do not meet the updated eligibility criteria for government subsidies.

Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible to apply for the license of Registered Nurses“註冊護士”(RN) from The Nursing Council of Hong Kong (NCHK).
Career Prospects and Further Studies
  • Graduates can start their career in health and social care areas including hospital and community settings. 
  • In hospital, they can work at acute and non-acute units such as emergency department, operating room, paediatrics, medical and surgical units. 
  • In community setting, they can contribute to residential care services such as care of the elderly, and care of the disabled. They can also work at family and child clinic, out-patient departments, ambulatory day-care centre, etc. 
  • Graduates who wish to have career advancement as advanced practice nurse, nurse consultant, nurse manager, academic faculty member, researcher and etc. may pursue postgraduate studies in various areas such as master or doctoral degree in education, nursing, public health, social science, health service management etc.

Graduates of the BHSc in Nursing will be equipped with all necessary knowledge and skills. After successfully completing the programme, graduates are qualified:

  • for registration as Registered Nurses with The Nursing Council of Hong Kong;
  • to practise nursing in primary, secondary and tertiary care settings;
  • to practise nursing in hospitals (public and private) and other healthcare-related settings; and

When will the Nursing Practicum take place?

Students are required to fulfil the minimum practicum requirement stipulated by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong. Clinical practicums include:

  • medical nursing;
  • surgical nursing;
  • paediatric and adolescent nursing;
  • obstetric nursing;
  • gerontological nursing;
  • mental health nursing;
  • community nursing;
  • primary health care; and
  • accident and emergency department.

The Nursing Practicum will be scheduled according to the programme structure.

What types of immunization are required before the clinical practicum?
