The School of Management organised a study tour to Sydney, Australia, from 12 to 19 May 2024. Thirteen students from the Bachelor of Health Information and Services Management (Honours) degree and the Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing (Honours) degree programmes took part, accompanied by college staff. They were warmly welcomed by the University of Sydney, Western Sydney University, and the University of Technology Sydney, and participated in several professional seminars, which greatly broadened their international perspectives.

The highlight of the tour was a visit to Australia's first Royal Prince Alfred Virtual Hospital (located at the University of Sydney) and the Digital Health & Innovation Office. Under the expert guidance of Mr Willy Chan, Quality Assurance System Manager of the Sydney Local Health District, the students gained in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge virtual healthcare services and the application of modern medical technologies. Additionally, a Year 4 student had the opportunity to present her capstone project via video to professors at the University of Sydney and receive valuable professional feedback.

One participating student shared: "At first, I found it hard to imagine how a hospital without patients, beds, or curtains could function, but after experiencing it firsthand, I was deeply impressed by the virtual hospital team's high-level expertise and their ability to conduct remote trauma assessments and monitoring. This innovative healthcare model has completely transformed my view of future medical services."

In addition to the professional learning, the students visited cultural landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and the Blue Mountains, enriching their cultural experiences. This study tour not only deepened the students' understanding of the virtual hospital learning system but also provided them with valuable insights and inspiration for their future development in the healthcare information and services management industry.
