Prof. Yu-Hon Lui (呂汝漢教授) who took up the appointment as the President from 10 December 2014The Chairman of the College Council (CC) of Tung Wah College (TWC) is pleased to welcome Prof. Yu-Hon Lui (呂汝漢教授) who took up the appointment as the President from 10 December 2014. The President will be reporting to the College Council (CC), as designated by the Board of Governors (BoG).

The College Council is confident that with Prof. Lui's substantial academic and professional management experience in both the UGC and the self-financed education sectors, Tung Wah College will advance to a new era.

TWC College Council Chairman Ms Viola Chan said, ‘Institutional autonomy and good governance are essential to the effective administration and long-term healthy development of a College. Institutional autonomy is accomplished by having independent governing bodies and a management structure that are separate from those of its sole member. Good governance calls for competency, integrity and shared visions of our great team apart from an effective governance structure that emphasizes a high degree of accountability of the management to the CC and the BoG, and the accountability of the BoG to the College’s sole member, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. As such, while understanding the BoG is the supreme governing body of the College and the CC is the executive body responsible for administering the property and the general affairs of the College, the new President will be delegated with the authority that enables him to provide strong leadership and to take responsibilities in managing the College’s operation, administration and development issues.’

“ I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Acting President, Prof. Sylvia Fung, and her Steering Committee members, Prof. Michael Cheung, Prof. Danny Gohel and Prof. Jerome Yen, for their hard work, dedication and contributions to the College in the past year. The efforts of Prof. Fung and the members of the Acting President Steering Committee in steering the College on its path to a stronger development has been well-recognized and appreciated,” added Ms Viola Chan.
Upon the arrival of the new President on 10 December 2014, the Acting President Steering Committee will therefore be dissolved.
